Moviehouse Presents Three by Three

A new exclusive Moviehouse experiment in video and sound. First, three filmmakers: stop-motion animator Nathan Punwar, illustrator Kieran O'Hare, and video artist Manuela Viera-Gallo create new silent films. Then three composers: VJ Clay Franklin, Phil Weinrobe and Michael Boss each orchestrate a separate soundtrack for each film. The results will screen in succession in one very tasty night of three films each with three different soundtracks. Experience firsthand the collaboration of sound, video and a bit of experimentation.

Moviehouse Presents What's Not There

This March Moviehouse explores the intersection of reality and imagination with two films designed to make us think about the nature of what we see and don't see and where movies can take us that reality cannot. Alexander Maxwell presents a modern day take on an old-school duel while David Mason presents a spooky look at a simple conversation. As always you can expect beats from DJ Clay Franklin, drinks and snacks.

Moviehouse is celebrating its three-year anniversary on Valentine’s Day. So even though it’s our birthday, it’s you that gets the gifts.

We challenged our favorite filmmakers, our intrepid staff and even a couple of diehard fans to make us 3-minute romantic movies following 3 simple rules. The result: brand new films by puppet-master Leat Klingman, dashing documentarian Daniel Ross, graceful dance film director Marta Renzi, creative playmaker Chloe Bass and the ceaselessly entertaining Carlotta Propersi.  They join Moviehouse staffers Austin Duggan and Chris Henderson for a celebration worthy of 3 years of the very best interactive video.

It’s all about the maddening town we all can’t live without out at this month’s Moviehouse. The show is equal parts video, performance, and question session as we introduce Rob Carter’s latest stop-motion animation on the cityscape and then invite the multi-media performers at Zebra Crossing to share all they’ve learned during their quest to answer ‘What is Brooklyn?’.

As always there will be a post screening Q&A with the artists and then VJ Clay Franklin’s back with his ever-expanding cache of clips, beats, and live footage!

Join us on a journey through the wild world of dreams. At some points terrifying and others tantalizing, this work is always entertaining. Like all good dreams these five films will leave you guessing what's real and what's make believe. The evening includes fanciful music from VJ Clay Franklin, drinks and a chance to ask the filmmakers about their work.

Then just when you think you’re having fun, the mischievous Meredith Blouin debuts her death-obsessive dance collaboration with filmmaker Pete D'Addeo challenging everything you’ve ever thought about being dead.

Your head might be spinning and you’ll be at a loss for words but the creators will be on hand afterwards to discuss their work!
