November 9th: American Documentaries

Moviehouse presents two very special short documentaries that look deep into the Consciousness of America at this critical time. Both documentary teams will participate in a q and a after the screenings.

Red Blue Road Trip by Graham Meriwether and Chris Henderson

Two filmmakers (including Moviehouse founder Chris Henderson) travel through 12 swing states in 18 days just before the 2008 election to find out what core values Americans hold in common as they choose between John McCain and Barack Obama. The result is 18 portraits of 18 communities-- large and small, wealthy and impoverished, rural and urban--- at a historic moment in American life.

Uncertain Industry: The Decline of Manufacturing in New York City by Daniel Ross and Tom Vigliotta

New York City was once the capital of American manufacturing -- in 1950, the city boasted nearly one million manufacturing jobs. By 2007 that number had dwindled to 100,000. What has losing this vital source of jobs meant for New York's economy?
