Sam Sparro & Golden
You might have seen them steal the show w/Mark Ronson at Coachella or the UK's biggest music festival Glastonbury. Known for their platinum selling electro soul banger "Black & Gold", the 2008 Grammy dark horse nomination for best electronic single, they recently relocated from London to L.A. and this will be their first performance ever in Brooklyn!
Love Grenades
Love Grenades has taken Los Angeles by storm the past year with their sexy combination of electro vibes and hot to death singer, Liz Grenades. Their first Brooklyn show will include special guests, Golden and Sam Sparro, who are producing their new album. Think Blondie meets Justice.
Justin Carter & Eamon Harkin
Justin Carter and Eamon Harkin are the gents behind Mister Saturday Night, a Brooklyn loft party that highlights their talent as some of the best DJs in New York, as well as the talents of other great DJs and bands from around the world. They've played alongside everyone from Larry Heard and Moodymann to DJ Premier and Afrika Bambaataa, and their sets cover most anything inside the disco, house and techno continuum. Tonight they're playing a loooooooong, late-night set, Mister Saturday Night-style. They're gonna break your minds open!
Derek Plaslaiko
As a teen equally transfixed by Mojo and Wizard cassettes and Minor Threat 7”s, Derek Plaslaiko followed the beats from his hometown 20 miles south of Detroit to the epicenter of Detroit techno and eventually to the bright lights of Brooklyn where he has developed an international following while remaining a local favorite.
Kimyon
Local superstar dj Kimyon brings high-art into his jump-up dj sets with a mix of techno that is as unique as it is moving.
Zemi 17
Resident dj Zemi 17 brings in the sunrise and beyond with a sound described as "space house" meets "intelligent techno". His music is influenced by many tours around the world, including several years studying language and music in Indonesia.
dj $mall Change...
...will never stop. A musical addict, he's been collecting and DJing for over 15 years, has 10s of thousands of records, in every conceivable genre and time period. This New York City favorite is throwing down the heavy beats guaranteed to move you.
Subatomic Sound System
Hot off a heavyweight dubstep record with Lee Scratch Perry and a capacity crowd show in Central Park, NYC's Subatomic Sound System has built a reputation worldwide for explosive shows, innovative production, and breaking down barriers with their unique adaptation of 1970"s Jamaican sound system culture and dub reggae studio techniques to the latest sounds, technology, and live performances.
With special guests:
Jahdan Blakkamoore
(Dutty Artz, Noble Society, Major Lazer) : fast rising reggae vocalist featured on the new "Respect the Foundation" single.
dj Collage aka Mr. Chatman
(Dehli2Dublin, Ghislain Porier, Machine Drum, Meat Beat Manifesto) the west coast's top ranking ragga MC.
The Gameltron
Modeled after traditional Balinese and Javanese gamelan orchestras, the GamelaTron is an amalgamation of traditional instruments with a suite of percussive sound makers. MIDI sequences control 117 robotic striking mechanisms that produce intricately woven and rhythmic sound. Performances follow an arc similar to classic Indonesian gatherings, where stories from great epics, such as the Ramayana, are told and settings given in words that are continued in music.
The Mickey Western Band
Low-down-dirty tunes, deep woods melodies and accordion improvisations fill the night in the open-air terrace.
Mary-Go-Round
A mix of fire, brimstone and New Orleans soaked anthems.
The Lady Circus
The next generation of circus has taken hold in this troupe of femmes fatales, who are taking circus arts to new heights. Born in the Brooklyn underground, Lady Circus have burst out of the gritty, grimy, glossy cocoon that birthed them to display a devastating combination of skill and spectacle for the new millennium.
The Riot Temple
This towering sculpture explores the symmetry between worship and riot. By Ryan O'Connor.
The Fire Mavens
Sandhi Ferreira & Masae speak through the flicker of flame offering a brief hint of Armageddon in the form of inferno.
...and more to come...
