Calling ALL PEOPLE interested in GRAPHIC DESIGN. Want to tighten up your drawn illustrations? Want to put together graphics for the web or high-resolution images for business cards, t-shirt designs, cd covers or posters? One of the core tools used to create and manipulate web or print graphics is Adobe Illustrator. This workshop will cover all the application's basic functions. Oh how your life will be changed by the power of scalable vector graphics, as well as some recipes & tricks of the trade!

In this Intensive, you will learn all of the basics of the application including the drawing and reshaping tools, combining objects, fill and stroke, applying color, and adding type. The class will also explore different ways to prepare files for printing and the difference between print and screen resolution, as well as converting bitmaps to vector artwork, which can be blown up without losing resolution.

We will go through a shared project together, or you can bring your own images and files to work with. The goal is to establish a comprehensive workflow within the application, starting from importing and converting graphics, to printing and exporting for web. However, we'll be hip-hopping around based on interests and needs.

Adobe Photoshop experience is a plus, but not a requirement.

Students are encouraged to bring files.

This class will introduce students to the basics of Adobe Flash CS3, the most ubiquitous plugin on the Web, capable of delivering interactive graphics, text, animation, audio, and video over the web in completely customizable environment. Freed from the conventions of HTML/CSS, you'll gain the fundamental tools to push your ideas to the web. Yes, your site CAN look like the third level of Galaga, a dissected frog, or a Snoopy Sno-Cone Machine, no problem!

Since this will be an introductory course, Flash's internal scripting language, ActionScript, will be covered minimally. Almost all animation/transformations/filters demonstrated will be timeline based, although the ActionScript alternatives will be mentioned. The main goal of this course is to open up the program to the beginner willing to go through an in-depth overview.

Students will build and upload an interactive "portfolio" site that will display their experiments in the following sections: textual layout, imported graphics (vector and bitmap), character animation, audio, and video.

Members will be asked to work in small groups for completion of several projects or several weeks.
