Playing music is often a group activity. Quite often, though, simple words cannot communicate the intraciacies of a musical moment. That's where notation and charts come in. Are you interested in learning the written language of music?
In this course, we will cover a wide range of music reading and writing applications. You will come away with an understanding of Clefs, Key Signatures, Rhythm and Melody. We will also cover reading "charts." Charts are those things with all the funny looking chords written on them. They won't look so funny after this class. I promise.
NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY.
All you need for this class is a nice big stack of manuscript paper, a few sharpened pencils with erasers, and a tune in your heart.
Philip Weinrobe is an American musician living in Brooklyn, NY. He studied jazz at Ithaca College and then proceeded to tour the world playing bluegrass. He is equally at home discussing Bill Evans and Bill Monroe and currently performs with Achord Recordings Artist, Butane Variations. His favorite color is blue and his favorite note is D#.
