What is 3rd Ward?

3rd Ward is a studio and creative workspace, designed and developed by artists, for artists. It features 20,000 square feet of artistic resources including a photo studio, wood shop, metal shop, digital media lab, and arecording studio. 3rd Ward also has great classes & intensives, private and shared office space, and a gallery. 3rd Ward's facilities span the creative disciplines from sculpture to design, photography to performance.

Where is 3rd Ward?

3rd Ward is located at 195 Morgan Ave., in East Williamsburg, near the Grand, Montrose, and Morgan stops on the L train.Click here for directions!

When is 3rd Ward open?

3rd Ward is open from 8 am to midnight Monday - Friday and from 9 am to midnight on Saturdays and Sundays. Please note: doors are locked at 9 pm every night. Please use the buzzer at the main entrance to gain access. Also, at 10 pm, if the facility is empty, 3rd Ward will close.

Gallery openings and special events are posted in advance. 3rd Ward is closed on Memorial Day, the 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, and New Year's Day.

Who can use the facilities and equipment at 3rd Ward?

3rd Ward is open to artists of all disciplines and levels. Facilities are available to members and non-members on a walk-in basis, just make sure to sign in at the front desk. Due to demand and space limitations we encourage you to schedule in advance.

Advance registration is required for all classes.

All shop users must pass a required safety course and receive sign off from a 3rd Ward staff member before using any equipment.

How do I become a member of 3rd Ward?

Just email info@3rdward.com, call 718.715.4961, or sign up at the Front Desk. Members are required to fill in an application and select a payment plan. On-line sign up will be available in the near future!

What forms of payment does 3rd Ward accept?

3rd Ward accepts credit card, cash, or local checks. Checks are accepted from members only and there is a $25 fee for bounced checks. Annual memberships who submit monthly payments must do so via electronic draft/debit.

A credit card is required to book space and rentals over the telephone.

Does 3rd Ward offer classes?

3rd Ward offers classes and intensives taught by highly trained and active professionals on a monthly basis. I Heart Brooklyn Members get unlimited FREE classes and Annual Members receive a substantial discount on classes. Advanced registration is required.

What is the cancellation policy?

Annual and I Heart Brooklyn Members can only cancel after contract has been fulfilled and must do so in writing/email one month prior to cancellation.

In the event a student must withdraw from a class, he or she may do so any time before the registration deadline of the class (which is generally 5 business days before the class meets), and will only be charged a 25% of class cost (minus equipment cost) widthdrawal fee. Any withdrawals after the class registration deadline will result in the full cost of the class being charged to the student. A minimum enrollment of 5 people is required for most classes to run. Students will be notified of class cancellation 48 hours before the class start date.

All rental bookings must be cancelled no less than 48 hours prior to the scheduled rental for non-members to be fully refunded.

All Studio reservations must be cancelled no less than 24 hours (non-members 48 hours) prior to the booking. If a booking is not cancelled within this timeframe members and non-members are subject to pay full cost of booking. I Heart Brooklyn members must also cancel at least 24 hours prior to the booking and are subject to a $25 fee if they don't.
