Websites with Joomla

Joomla is a free, open-source web site platform that allows anyone to set up a web site in minutes, no HTML, CSS, or coding knowledge necessary.
Simple enough for novices but powerful enough for professionals, Joomla powers millions of sites worldwide. And because it's open-source, anyone can download it for free to a web hosting account and build a website. If Wordpress is a popular choice for blogging, Joomla is a popular choice for full-featured web sites.
In this class, we'll start nothing but a hosting account and a head full of ideas, and we'll build your entire site in three sessions.

We'll show you how to:
* create and edit pages
* work with images and video
* make and configure menu items
* create different types of site-wide modules
* work with template and custom designs

This class is intended for all skill levels. Whether you're a novice who doesn't know HTML from a kumquat or an experienced web developer looking for another tool to put in your quiver, we'll show you how easy it is to make a web site with Joomla.

Instructor
Ben Freda is a web designer and developer who runs Ben Freda Consulting, a web boutique serving nonprofits, artists, and small businesses. He used to be a lawyer, but slunk whimpering away from that profession after working for two years at a large midtown law firm. He feels strongly that open-source technologies, like the Joomla CMS, have ushered in the era of the DIY technologist.
