Urban Food Production for the Landless

Are you forever lamenting the lack of a yard to grow food in, or want to find ways to produce food well into winter? If so, this class is for you. Using recycled materials and simple and inexpensive systems, you can grow food on a small scale in your living space regardless of the season.
Learn to make edible terrariums for herbs and greens, make self watering containers, and grow delicious oyster mushrooms in espresso grounds. You'll also be shown how to sprout grains, beans and seeds for nutritious salads, soups and sandwiches.
Students should bring several recycled containers of their choosing: plastic milk jugs, microgreen salad containers, small cardboard boxes (no bigger than 12" in any direction) and glass containers for terrariums like ball jars a half-pint or larger. 3rd Ward will provide the rest!
