Ruby: Introduction & FAQ
Ruby is a programming language that has become very popular for web apps. It features rapid prototyping, sophisticated automated testing, and highly readable code that is easy to maintain and embellish over time. It also has a huge family of plugins that lend powerful features to your systems with ease. In Ruby, you can use just a few techniques without worrying about all the rest. This course will focus on getting results from a few primary techniques, while establishing good habits that will pave the way to efficient research, learning, and debugging. At this introductory lecture, I’ll show some snippets of code that are aimed to convince you that you can understand the material in this class. I’ll also refer to a bit of Ruby’s history and the current landscape, to explain why it may be relevant to you.

Mike Schwab taught himself Ruby programming and has helped over a dozen companies get their web sites off the ground using the Rails framework. He started teaching this skill set to anyone who would listen, to foster allies who could help placate the army of clients.
