Making Games with Game Maker

From Farmville to Street Fighter, games have never been a more vital and universal cultural form. It's also never been easier to make games of your own! In this class we will learn the basics of Game Maker, a popular, powerful and versatile development environment for Windows and OS X.
We'll cover Game Maker's organizing principles, talk about basic scripting and programming concepts, practice debugging and playtesting, and begin to develop the creative and technical skills needed to make a small game from start to finish. Each class consists of a discussion and a hands-on workshop in which students will work on a project of their choice.
Whether you're interested in a professional career, creative expression, or simply learning what goes on under the hood of digital games, this course will help you get started making games, with a focus on learning by doing!
Programming or scripting experience is helpful but not required. However, computer literacy is expected.
