Intro to Woodworking: Creature Comforts

In this course we learn the fundamentals of wood working such as properties of wood, tool safety, hand and power tool usage, layout and joinery all in the context of the ecosystem that surrounds us in New York City. In particular we will look at the homes of native beneficial bees, birds and bats and use their design guide lines to create some comfortable homes to attract them to live near us and they will help us in return.

All students will create and take home a bee condo, and a bird house for a species of his/her choice. Come join us in learning the time honored art of woodworking and help save the planet at the same time!
