Digital Textile Design

Acquire a lucrative skill in this six-hour intensive by learning the basics of textile design. Students will create original, digitally produced designs for printed fabrics and develop marketable skills for apparel, interiors and paper products. Professional methods of designing patterns, repeats and re-coloring will be explored using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Students will also receive tips & advice about the textile industry where these skills are applicable.

This class will take place in our Media Lab, equipped with fully-loaded iMac design workstations. Previous experience with Photoshop and Illustrator is required.  You will be learning intermediate to advanced techniques in these programs.  If you've never opened either program, you should take our Photoshop and Illustrator Intensives prior to attending this course.  Take one or both of them and this class, and you'll receive a discount on all.  Please call for details.  If you believe you have previous experience in these programs and would like us to waive the prerequisite, please email Education@3rdward.com.

Instructor
Francesca Capone is a designer and artist with a BFA in Textiles and a concentration in English from the Rhode Island School of Design. She has worked in textiles for interior design as well as apparel design, has her own line of cold weather accessories at Carolina Amato, and is currently designing textiles at Coach. She teaches Upholstery and Digital Textile Design.

Ruth Jeyaveeran is a freelance Textile Designer, Illustrator and a part time faculty member in the Fashion Department at Parsons School of Design. She has worked for various fashion and home furnishing companies such as Dwell Studio, Martha Stewart Living, Kate Spade, Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren.  She holds a degree in Textile and Surface Design from FIT.
