Digital Books: Self-Publishing Made Easy

This workshop is for photographers, digital artists, visual artists, and anyone with the desire to produce a personal professional looking published book.

If you have a collection of existing images, poems, recipes, family photos and want to present them in book form. This workshop is for you. No Experience necessary. Just a desire to create your first book.

Using internet based desktop publishing software with templated page designs, participants can expect to have a well-designed, printed and bound book of their choosing. ( software is free - works on PC or MAC )

The workshop explores a vehicle for the integration and subsequent presentation of images, text and ideas. Through the processes of editing, sequencing and templated book-designs we will explore how, by designing and publishing a book, you can clarify the content of your images, not only to an audience, but also more importantly, to yourself.

Although basic Macintosh/PC skills are assumed, participants need no prior knowledge of Photoshop and/or InDesign. Participants should bring images (as many as desired) and whatever text you might want to add. Students are encouraged to bring their own laptops.

You will learn how to upload and manipulate images on the computer to create an actual hard/soft-cover book which will be ordered from an internet website designed specially for making fine art books. Use of scanning equipment (flat-bed or film) is available during this workshop.( no extra charges)

Price of books vary and are not included in the cost of the workshop. Books can cost as little as $12.95 for a softcover or $22.95 for a hardcovered linen bound book with dust jacket

Member Price: $250
Nonmember Price: $325
